Narrating the Onam Celebrations @ Chennai.

i am happy that Chennai is getting Diversified now.

• You see lot of 'Andhra Mess' around OMR,
• You see 'Vada Pav' being served in the restaurants around Tiruvanmiyur,Adyar.. 'Some Poori'(Paani poori or Bhel Poori being served by cycle vendors.
• You See 'Dandiya' Dance were arranged and performed at Auditoriums and Halls.

     And almost all communities live here of which i guess malayalees might have come first up first.

The Malayalees adopt to all places quickly in the universe including moon with...'ISRO's Chandrayaan' recently sending Black and white photos of 'Nair tea Stall' there..and the malayalees rock Chennai with 'Special Malabar Tea' in their 'Nair Tea Stall'. It will be delicious with 'Cardomom'. hmm...Love it!!


Onam is celebrated in a grand way in Delhi and Chennai apart from Kerala(Ofcourse, in Gulf, Some Malayalees sound 'Gulf' as 'Gelf'). A Malayalee, who lives in Delhi stated in CNN-IBN that.. 'Its Celebrated by more malayalees here(delhi) than in kerala'.

i am narrating the things which happened during 'Onam Celebrations' @ My previous workplace,Shols(Short for Shozinganallur..as they say...).

At My Previous Workplace in Shozinganallur, Chennai, Onam is being largely celebrated with 'Pookolam'(Rangoli with Flowers) greeting you @ the Office Reception in the morning and some ______ mol(Gals) are seen giving finishing touches to the 'Pookolam' and some 'Chetans'(Elder Brothers) are seen capturing the 'Pookolam'.'The French Beard' HR Manager who controls 'Chennai Operations' might pass by there and will see the 'Pookolam' and applaud the HR Associates,with 'Honey Coated Words' and get away from the place.

Actually, He might have accidently come there on his way to  'Smoking Zone'.

From 11.45 am Cafeteria serves 'Onam Sadya'(...sss..Yummy!!!). 'Onam Sadya' is a special lunch with will have 'Sweets','Banana Chips' , 'Coconut Paal Paayasam', 'Coconut Rice' , Banana and 'aviyal' and i love it. Kerala Mess, which is situated 3 km from shozinganallur checkpost also gives 'Sadya'on the 'Onam' Day.

i used to go there regularly for lunch during my early days and being just 3 km away...now i accelerate hard and occasionally go there for lunch.

Meanwhile, By 4 PM @ Workplace, Whole HR Team is seen in the Lawns of Our Office Campus and they arrange the 'Pot Breaking' Contest there...with eyes being tied by a cloth.(By Which logic this event is associated with 'Onam'?..Kirchoff's Law, Newton's 2nd Law??) and also 'Jandai' Melam being played to which some tamizhs assume/misinterpret
and dance like they do for 'Kuthu' Songs in tamizh movies.

The Malayalee 'Chechis'(Elder Sisters) are seen with Dark Green and White 'Jarigai' Sarees. The 'Chetans'(Elder Brothers) are seen with 'Dark Green', 'Maroon' Shirts and 'Jarigai' Veshtis(Dhotis). The Lady HRs(malayalee,tamizh and north indian) also joins big time to make it a 'Gala' Event. They were also seen with the 'Green' & 'White' Combination and they share the exp. of time took for wearing the Saree and 'pleeting' it. Read Colours and their Significance also where i told about Green and Freshness.

By 5.30 pm, The 'French Beard' HR Manager who has welcomed me during the 'New Joinees Session' and those seen in 'All Hands Meet' Normally...were seen with

'Maroon' Shirts and 'Applied Sandanam' on their face and they will be '32 not out'..(i meant teeth.) till 6.30 pm.

Yes! i repeat. 6.30 pm. 'The French Beard HR Managers' always sound like 'Puntual Paramasivam' and go home by 6.30 pm.

Who cares those? Go to Hell after 6.30. i mean to their wives at home :) :)

Tom's Touch:

Here comes the best part. the Lady HRs are a Visual Treat on 'Onam' day; Not Only their sarees shine on Onam's day..can't describe., much..(censored 'Something' here...after proof read) :) :).  Apart from Two HRs taking 'Bottom Line Responsibility' and Organizing the events, you see the other Lady HRs Flirting in the Lawns!!!....LOL....LOL....

May be the 'facials', 'Threadings' on the previous day and the added 'Muscara' on the Cheeks would have done them lot of good to make them...look More prettier...But they look ordinary the next week after Onam and you can overhear them as we pass near by 'Continuous Client Calls, You Know?'.

The Bigger 'Kuthu Vilakku's will be lighted after the events in Lawns and the 'Thiruvadhirai' kali dance will be performed by typical Malayalee girls..Yes...i don't think apart from malayalees and expert dancers, no one dance that..This will be another visual treat...(hmm Loved it...then!!!). and some 6 to 8 Pretty girls ('the chosen ones' LOL..) will dance in sequence and although they dance slowly...i wonder..how do they dance without any sequencing errors for more than 20 min?..The Timing of Dance and Music is best Maintained thoroughout by all. They repeat the slow movements again and again and they encircle the 'Kuthu Vilakku'.

Some 'Techie Gizmos' were seen taking pictures with their Nokia/Sony Ericsson, Ofcourse, these are absent minded guys, who work hard and gaze the monitor 14 x 7.They might have forgotten that the 'Onam Celebration' is going on in 'Our Office' Campus and they might have been told by their Coleagues(guys,ofcourse) that 'Thiruvaadhirai ' Kali is happening at Food Court and some ________ mol is performing and she's looking Great!!! today.

The 'Chetans' will be seen capturing the moments from the start of the event.. with their Canon Digicams and Camcorders.....Ofcourse! with lot of energy,enthusiasm and water flowing from their mouth..This is the moment they have been waiting for... which comes only once an year and they circulate the photos and Videos very soon and upload videos on Youtube.


i know that Meera Jasmine and Kavya Madhavan are not related to this article other than their Malayalee 'Identity'...But somehow they add the curiosity and 'it' Factor to the 'Article'. :) :)
